India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has refuted stories of a rift between head coach Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, saying the two senior players share ideas with the team management. Kotak commented ahead of the second ODI between India and New Zealand in Rajkot.
Kotak also confirmed that Kohli and Rohit have discussed their willingness to play the 2027 ODI World Cup.
“They discuss the 50-over format with Gautam, and also about the matches and the plans for South Africa. Most of the time, they are in touch with the team management. I always see them talking to Gautam,” Kotak said.
Some of the reports suggested that all is not well between Gambhir and the two legendary batters, even claiming that there is tension in the dressing room.
“You see a lot of stuff on social media, but I try to ignore it,” he added.

“Both are senior players who want to practice. If they feel the need for extra practice, they will go a couple of days in advance. They are both outstanding players and are playing in one format. They want to win everywhere and perform whenever they play.
“They are brilliant when it comes to planning. They know about their job and what their bodies need. They are professionals and don’t need to be told about what they need to do. They share their experience with other players, and they also discuss,” he mentioned.
