The right-handed batter has revealed why he took the decision.

KL Rahul is expected to lead the Lucknow franchise in the next edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022. He has not been retained by Punjab Kings. The right-handed batter scored more than 600 runs in the 14th season of the tournament.

However, former India player Subramaniam Badrinath wants the Karnataka based cricketer to become Royal Challengers Bangalore’s new leader. The franchise is looking for a new skipper following Virat Kohli’s decision to step down.

Virat was RCB’s skipper for years, but he failed to lead the team to maiden IPL tittle. After AB de Villiers’ retirement from all forms of cricket, the management will have to appoint someone else as team’s new captain.

Meanwhile, Rahul has a poor track record as a captain in the cash rich league. He failed to inspire Punjab Kings during his time with the franchise.
