India skipper Rohit Sharma held the fielders and bowlers responsible for the team's defeat in the first T20I against Australia

India skipper Rohit Sharma held the fielders and bowlers responsible for the team’s defeat in the first T20I against Australia in Mohali. The hosts couldn’t defend 208 runs and were thumped by 4 wickets.

Chasing 209, the Aaron Finch-led team rode on the contribution of Cameron Green (61) and Matthew Wade (45 not out) to cross the finish line.

Earlier, Hardik Pandya (71 not out), KL Rahul (55), and Suryakumar Yadav (46) took the Indian team to 208/6.

Meanwhile, Rohit was disappointed as KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and Harshal Patel dropped important chances. All the bowlers got hammered to different parts of the ground in the bowling department. Only Axar was the standout bowler and conceded just 17 and took 3 wickets.

“We didn’t field and bowled well, and that’s the reason behind our defeat. 208 was a good score, and we could have defended it. However, this game would make us learn where we went wrong. Australians timed their chase to perfection,’ said Rohit.
