Kuldeep Yadav has had a topsy-turvy journey in the Indian Premier League over the years. He made his debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders  under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir in 2014.

The 26-year-old was the go-to-man for Gambhir in tough situations. Under his leadership, Kuldeep picked up 18 wickets in 15 games.

However, after the two-time IPL-winning captain left the side in 2018, Kuldeep has fewer chances and it also affected his confidence.

In his latest chat with Sportskeeda, Kuldeep opened up on his lack of chances in the last few years in IPL. The left-arm spinner also asserted that the kind of “trust” Gambhir showed in him, the Eoin Morgan-led side didn’t treat him in the same way.

“Somewhere it does feel unfair that when you play for India but you still don’t get to play franchise cricket. You do feel bad but there is nothing you can do, you can only work hard and ask for reasons.

“When you do ask for reasons you get some explanation but maybe the kind of backing that I was expecting from KKR I didn’t get. The kind of trust Gauti bhai showed in me, maybe I didn’t get that in this team,” he added.

Kuldeep was a part of the KKR squad for the 14th edition of IPL but didn’t get a chance to feature in the playing XI before the tournament was suspended.
