The sacking of Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy has been the talk of the town. But the different statements of Virat and Ganguly have led to confusion. While the BCCI says that Virat was removed after he left the T20I captaincy against the board’s wishes, Kohli maintains that no one from the cricket body contacted him.
Former India cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner, Kirti Azad, has opined that national selectors select a team, and the sheet is given to the BCCI President. Azad also added that the team is approved by the BCCI President and is announced by the chief selector.
“When I was a national selector, we would select the team and go to the head of the board. He would see and sign it and then it would was announced,” said Kirti Azad as quoted by Times Now.
