Former India cricketer Kiran More has showered praise on Rishabh Pant ahead of the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, starting on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
More has picked the young wicketkeeper-batsman as India’s “key player” for the summit clash against the Kane Williamson-led side.
Lauding Pant’s batting skills, More has said that the 23-year-old player is capable enough to change the outcome of the match from any position.
“I feel Rishabh will once again be the key player for us in the WTC final and also in the England series. He is on top of his game at the moment and I think he is confident enough to change the course of the game with the bat from any position,” the 58-year-old told rediff.com.
Notably, Pant has become India’s batting mainstay in Tests after his brilliant performance in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He was the leading run-scorer for his side with 274 runs in 3 Tests.
Kiran More expects Rishabh Pant to replicate the same form in the WTC final as well as in the five-match Test series against England.
More also feels that the ongoing Test series against Joe Root-led side will definitely help the Kiwis in their preparations for the much-anticipated finale against Team India.
“New Zealand have a slight advantage in terms of preparation as they are playing England in a two-Test series before the World Test Championship final,” he added.
