Virat Kohli, the leader, is a thing of past. He resigned from T20I and Test captaincy, while the 33-year old was sacked from his leadership role in one-day internationals.
Former South Africa player Jonty Rhodes, who is currently participating in the Legends League Cricket in Oman, has warned the rivals of Virat’s threat after responsibility of captaincy was lifted off his shoulders.
“I would be nervous of Virat Kohli, who doesn’t have the responsibility of leading his national team. He would want to go out there and score runs heavily to prove his relevance in world cricket,” said one of the best fielders of his time.
Rhodes feels it always a personal decision when a player decides to leave captaincy. “It was his personal decision and he hasn’t retired from cricket. Many skippers just leave the job and walk away but Kohli is still around,” he added.
