Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has invited the wrath of Indian fans on social media after his latest post on Twitter. The 46-year-old recently took a jibe at the Virat Kohli-led side after the Indian women’s team showed great character in the second ODI against England Women.
Though the Women in Blue lost the match by 5 wickets, they still troubled the English batters at the County Ground in Taunton.
Batting first, the visitors got off to a good start as Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma stitched a crucial partnership of 56 runs for the first wicket. Skipper Mithali Raj also played a brilliant knock of 59 runs off 92 balls and helped her side posting a challenging total of 221 runs on board.
However, the English side chased down the target with the help of Sophia Dunkley’s 73-run knock. England Women have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Following the conclusion of the game, Michael Vaughan praised the Indian women’s team for their good show in the second ODI and also used the opportunity to take an indirect dig at the Virat Kohli-led side.
He wrote, “The Indian women’s team are putting in an excellent display today… Good to see at least 1 Indian cricket team can play in English conditions.”
Vaughan’s statement didn’t go down well with many fans as they slammed the former cricketer for his distasteful tweet.
