Joe Root has consolidated his position as the number one player in the ICC men’s Test Rankings for batters following his twin hundreds in the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Lord’s. The former England captain has 922 rating points with New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson in the second spot with 859 rating points.

Root has amassed 350 runs in four innings of the ongoing three-Test series and is just one rating point behind his all-time high of 923, which he achieved on July 22 after smashing a ton against India at home.

On the other hand, Babar Azam has slipped further and is now ranked 12th in the world. He scored 64 runs across four innings without a fifty.

Gus Atkinson scored a hundred and took five wickets in the second Test against Sri Lanka. The English all-rounder has leapt 48 spots to enter the top 20 in the men’s all-rounders and made it to the top 30 among bowlers.

He scored 132 runs and dismissed seven batters in the Test.

Bangladesh batters also made gains in the Test rankings. “Litton Das, who scored a century in the second Test against Pakistan, climbed 12 places to reach the 15th spot.

Among the Indian players, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli are in the sixth, seventh, and eighth spots.

Ravichandran Ashwin (1), Jasprit Bumrah (3) and Ravindra Jadeja (7) have consolidated their positions in the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers.
