Joe Root is cool and calm and is rarely seen reacting angrily. However, he lost his cool on Day 2 of the fifth Test against India at The Oval. The right-handed batter had a go at Prasidh Krishna as the relations between the players of the two sets exploded even further.
The incident started after the fifth delivery of the 22nd over of England’s first innings as Root was beaten. Prasidh said something to the batter, which was not liked by the former English captain, who hit back. On the last ball, Root hit a boundary and charged towards the pacer, leading to a heated argument.

Earlier, Akash Deep gave a send-off to Ben Duckett, before putting his arm around the batter’s shoulder. Root was dismissed after scoring 29 runs, with Mohammed Siraj getting rid of the star batter. India posted 224 runs, with Karun Nair scoring a fifty. Gus Atkinson took a five-wicket haul in his first match of the series.
Ben Duckett (43) and Zak Crawley (64) gave a good start to England. Harry Brook smashed a fifty, but the visitors managed to dismiss the host nation for 247, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh taking four wickets each.
