The Jammu and Kashmir Police have summoned a cricketer and the organisers of a local cricket tournament after a Palestinian flag was displayed during a contest in Jammu. According to reports, one of the cricketers bore the Palestine flag on his helmet when he was batting.
“A cricketer and the organisers of the tournament have been told to appear for questioning for the use of the Palestine flag during a match in a private tournament,” police said.
The police officials want to find out the circumstances behind the appearance of the Palestinian flag. Furqan Bhat is the cricketer who will be questioned by the authorities.
The incident happened during a match between JK11 Kings and Jammu Trailblazers in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Champions League cricket tournament. The police want to know whether permission was taken or not.
The probe will also find out whether any tournament guidelines were violated or what the intent was behind displaying the flag of another country.
