Indian women cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has landed in a problem after Khar Gymkhana cancelled her membership after the accusation of her father carrying out the religious conversion in the club premises surfaced.

The decision was taken during the Annual General Body meeting of one of the oldest clubs in Mumbai.

Gymkhana President Vivek Devnani confirmed the news to Indian Express. “The membership of Miss Jemimah Rodrigues was revoked after the members passed the resolution on October 20, 2024,” Vivek said.

Khar Gymkhana managing committee member Shiv Malhotra spoke about her father’s activities. ” Jemimah Rodrigues’ father is associated with an organization called Brother Manuel Ministries. He booked the hall for 35 events. We all know what was happening there,” he said.

“Religious conversions were taking place over there. Dancing, expensive music equipment, and big screens were kept in the hall. The rules of Khar Gymkhana don’t allow any religious activity,” he added.

Former Khar Gymkhana president Nitin Gadekar said, “Me, Malhotra, and a few members went to see the hall. The room was dark, and the music was playing. A lady was heard saying, ‘He is coming to save us’. I was surprised how Gymkhana can be used for this purpose. We reported against it and it was decided to cancel her membership.”

Jemimah Rodrigues was given membership by the Khar Gymkhana in 2023.
