According to former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar, Jasprit Bumrah should be groomed as next long-term captain.
“Fast bowlers can be good captains. Kapil Dev was a fast bowler and led India to memorable wins. I don’t know why there is this notion that batters are more clever than bowlers. Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were phenomenal for Pakistan,” Shoaib said on Sports Today.
“A pacer always goes for a win. I am not saying that the batters don’t but it is a little different with the bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah should be made the vice-captain and groomed for captaincy role. The trend of thinking that only batters can lead a side is wrong,” he further said.
