Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Sri Lanka ODI series

The Men in Blue won their 12th consecutive home series after they beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the recently concluded T20I series. The focus has shifted to the three-match ODI series commencing from January 10.

The first match will take place in Guwahati, and the Rohit Sharma-led side dealt a heavy blow as Jasprit Bumrah, a late addition to the squad, pulled out from the series after the directives from NCA.

According to reports by Cricbuzz, Bumrah has not travelled to Guwahati with the team, as the NCA officials believe that Bumrah needs more time to recover fully from his injury. For Bumrah to participate in the Border-Gavaskar series, World Cup without breaking down, he needs more recovery time, reckoned NCA officials.

The bowling spearhead has been out of the action for a long time due to a back injury and missed the Asia Cup, World Cup.

Bumrah, who last played in September against Australia, was declared fit after completing his rehab in the NCA. The 29-year-old was added late to the squad after the selection committee’s recommendation but will have to wait longer to mark his return.
