Jasprit Bumrah
Unplayable again! Bumrah shines in high-stakes IPL clash

Jasprit Bumrah was once again spot on for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2025. He took two wickets and conceded just 19 runs from four overs, and also won the game for his side at the Wankhede Stadium. Shubman Gill was going strong in a chase of 156 runs, but a peach of a delivery by Bumrah ended his innings. The batter scored 43 runs off 46 balls. Shahrukh Khan, the big-hitting batter, was his second scalp of the night.

Gujarat were comfortably placed when the rain stopped the game for the first time. However, the restart of the game put them on the back foot, with Bumrah getting rid of two batters. When the second rain break happened, the Titans were 132/6 in the 18th over with the hosts ahead on the basis of the Duckworth-Lewis method. GT needed 24 runs from 12 balls, but it was reduced to 15 runs off 6 deliveries. Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee, with the help of Mumbai players, completed the task on the last ball, with the visiting franchise registering a three-wicket win.

Deepak Chahar was wayward while Hardik Pandya missed out on an easy run-out chance in the decisive over.

Former India player Sanjay Bangar heaped massive praise on Bumrah for his outstanding spell.

“Jasprit Bumrah is the Brahmastra of Team India and Mumbai Indians. In his first T20I against Australia, he took a wicket and was superb throughout the three-match series, with the Men in Blue winning all the games. He hasn’t developed all the tricks by playing international cricket. He played a lot of domestic matches for Gujarat and learned a lot. Bumrah played under Parthiv Patel’s captaincy. We see discipline in what he does with the ball, and he is ahead of everyone in terms of excellence,” he said.

“In the first three overs against Gujarat Titans, he conceded just 1 boundary. His effort ball dismissed Shubman Gill, who was caught in two minds. He brought Mumbai Indians back with the help of Boult and Ashwin,” he added.
