Overview:

The opening match of CPL 25 between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) was played on Thursday. It ended up being a low-scoring affair.

Catches win matches, they say, and indeed, the blend of athleticism and reliable hands on the cricket field has led to some of the most iconic moments in the sport. From Jonty Rhodes, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Paul Collingwood, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, AB de Villiers, Suryakumar Yadav, Glenn Phillips, and Harleen Deol, we’ve all witnessed their breathtaking grabs.

However, there is something that may have gone unnoticed. Jason Holder from the West Indies pulled off a brilliant catch during the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and it hasn’t received the recognition it deserves.

The official CPL account on X (formerly Twitter) is to blame for this oversight. The CPL’s official X account shared the moment with the post: “Holder holds on to a STUNNER!.

The opening match of CPL 25 between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) was played on Thursday. It ended up being a low-scoring affair.

Imad Wasim, leading ABF, lost the toss to SKNP’s Jason Holder, and his team was asked to bat first.

Apart from Karima Gore’s 61 off 34 balls, which included eight fours and two sixes, none of the other ABF batters could get going. The team was dismissed for just 121 runs in 18 overs. Waqar Salamkheil from SKNP was the standout performer with the ball, taking four wickets for just 22 runs from his four overs.

In reply, the chase was straightforward. Alick Athanaze’s unbeaten 37 and Holder’s 18* guided SKNP to victory. Salamkheil’s four-wicket performance earned him the Player of the Match.
