As the debate surrounding the pitch continues to intensify, former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer took a hilarious jibe at England as captain Joe Root, pacer Stuart Broad, batsman Jonny Bairstow, and others were spotted having a look at the pitch at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
Jaffer, who has been quite active on social media, was quick to share the picture on Twitter as Indian also joined the meme fest amid several former cricketers calling out the quality of the track and urging ICC to deduct India’s World Test Championship points.
“Broad: Guess my tour is over then. Wood: At least you played bro. Bairstow: Where me flat pitch?! Colly: Oh this one’s gonna turn innit? Root: Ah shit here we go again,” Jaffer captioned the photo.
In the third Test, India defeated England in less than two days to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series. Both teams will square off in the fourth Test from Thursday (March 04) with the hosts aiming to confirm their berth in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand.
The visitors, on the other hand, will play for pride with both teams also set to square off in the limited-overs series, starting with the first T20I of a five-match series on March 12. Interestingly, if England beat India, Australia will qualify or the WTC final.
The fourth Test will start on Thursday, March 4 in Ahmedabad.
