Brad Hogg believes the national selection committee has done an excellent job removing the two as they should bank upon young players.

While Cheteshwar Pujara has returned to the Indian team for the one-off Test against England in July, Ajinkya Rahane was not considered due to a hamstring injury, which even ruled him out of the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Rahane, who was dropped from the Test team for the series against Sri Lanka, scored just 133 runs in seven games for Kolkata Knight Riders. Ishant Sharma is another player who was not included in the side.

With questions looming over the pair’s Test future, Brad Hogg believes the national selection committee has done an excellent job removing the two.

“I think it’s great that the selectors have dropped Rahane and Ishant Sharma from the Test team. They are ageing and haven’t been performing. You need to get young players in the team and rotate them to give experience alongside the senior players,” said Hogg on his YouTube channel.
