India beat Sri Lanka by ten wickets in the Asia Cup 2023 finals to win the tournament for a record 8th time. Sri Lanka had an off day, as they tumbled for just 50 runs, the lowest score by any team against India.
It was one of the shortest finals in a men’s tournament, as even after a 45-minute rain delay and innings break, the game time was around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Mohammed Siraj was the star performer as the 29-year-old took a six-wicket haul and registered a figures of 6/21 in 7 overs. The 29-year-old also won the player of the match award for his performance.

It was India’s 8th Asia Cup win, and after the victory, the players spoke to the on-field presenters, where Shardul Thakur reflected on the win and remarked that it got over within a blink of an eye.
“The final got over within the blink of an eye. Bumrah started well, and what a spell it was from Siraj. It was a clinical performance from our bowlers.”
Shardul got a nod ahead of other players for the Asia Cup and World Cup squad as the management is looking to add batting depth. The all-rounder failed to show his batting prowess in the Asia Cup but shone with the ball as he even took the new ball against Bangladesh and did well.
