India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022 was announced on Monday with several players failing to make the cut. Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Ishan Kishan were not considered despite playing regularly for the national team.
Ishan was expecting to play for the Men in Blue in the upcoming event but the Chetan Sharma-led team didn’t find him suitable enough to represent India in the UAE.
Ishan took to Instagram and and took a dig at the selectors. The left-handed batter shared a picture of himself on his Instagram story accompanied by the song ‘Humble Poet’ by Bella.
“Ab aisa banna nahi, bhale ghayal ho jana. Tujhe phool samjhe koi, tu fire ho jana” (Don’t become something else even if it pains you. If someone considers you a flowe, become a fire).
Ishan, who was bought for a whopping ₹15.5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction, scored 418 runs at an average of 32.15 including three half-centuries. He hit two half-centuries in the home series against South Africa.
He got just two chances in England and West Indies. Ishan’s numbers in 2022 are impressive. In 14 innings, he has scored 449 runs, averaging 44.90 at a strike-rate of 142.99.
