South Africa defeated India in the first T20I of the five-match series. The home team was let down by the bowlers’ performance, who couldn’t defend 211. In the batting department, Ishan Kishan was the show’s star, with 76 runs coming from his bat.

The most expensive buy of IPL 2022, Ishan Kishan, had an ordinary outing for Mumbai Indians. However, he showed no signs of nervousness against the Proteas. In Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s absence, Ishan gave India a much-needed start.

Kishan knows that he will be dropped from the Playing XI once Rohit and Rahul return.

The 35-year is Team India’s captain, while KL has been in prime form for a long time.

“I think they (Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul) are world-class players, and I won’t ask for my place when they are in the team. So, my job is to give my best. I have to prove myself and perform well for the team. So, my focus is on the ongoing series,” he said.

The 23-year-old, who made his T20I debut in 2021, has played 11 T20Is. “Yeah, I’ll keep doing my thing, and it’s up to selectors what they think. My job is to give my best,” he added.
