The two new franchises – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – have announced their three-draft picks for IPL 2022. As expected, Hardik Pandya would be leading Ahmedabad in the 15th season of the league. Former India player Irfan Pathan has opined on Hardik’s selection as captain.
He feels it will be very challenging for the team, considering Pandya’s injuries and his indifferent form. For the record, Hardik hasn’t bowled regularly since his back surgery and has struggled in the batting department as well.
Irfan said to Star Sports, “For me, it is a very challenging decision taken by the franchise. Hardik will have to bat, bowl, and take care of captaincy responsibilities which is not going to be easy.”
However, the former all-rounder is also backing Hardik to make a big comeback to the tournament after struggling in 2021.
Meanwhile, Irfan is participating in the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2021 in Oman. He is playing for Indian Maharajas, a team of retired Indian cricketers.
