Vivo has pulled out as IPL’s title sponsor, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has brought Tata on board. This decision was taken at the Governing Council meeting of the IPL on Tuesday (January 11), according to Cricbuzz.

The governing council has accepted Vivo’s request to transfer the title rights to Tata. The Chinese handset maker has couple of years left in its deal and till then, Tata will remain the sponsor. The T20 league will now be called Tata IPL.

“There was a request from Vivo to exit the IPL sponsorship deal and the GC has approved it,” one official told Cricbuzz. “The BCCI will continue to earn the same fee for the title rights,” a BCCI source told Cricbuzz.
