World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) CEO Tom Moffat said that cricket has benefited from the domestic leagues, but the interest and the welfare of the players need to be protected.
“WCA keeps an eye on the global game and the engagements with players playing in leagues across the globe. The growth of leagues has impacted the sport in a positive way, but things can get even better. We want all the leagues to be successful and provide fairness for people who are part of it,” he said.
“In the absence of global standards in several areas identified by the cricketers and their agents, the updated list provide consolidated benchmark on current practices. We reached out to all the leagues to work with us to meet the best benchmarks and to continue working for the growth of the sport. We will continue to provide updates on good practice and on issues arising every year,” he added.
