IPL is more important for Indian players than country – Gavaskar questions Rohit-led team’s hypocrisy
Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar did not hold back his words and believes that there will be changes within the team.

India’s humiliating exit from the ICC T20 World Cup has irked every fan and expert in the country. The supporters heavily criticized the team’s performance and called for a few ousters within the side.

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar did not hold back his words and believes that there will be changes within the team and hinted at Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from the T20I format.

The 73-year-old also lashed out at players for prioritizing IPL over national duty. The reason behind Gavaskar bringing up this topic is that the senior players have been criticized for being given excessive rest during the build-up to the World Cup. Also, skipper Rohit Sharma was often absent in the series against lightweight teams.

Gavaskar expressed his anger on the ‘workload’ argument and said, ” Where does this workload go during IPL?”

“The team will change. There are new players in the squad for the New Zealand tour. But when we talk about ‘workload,’ why does it happen only when they play for India.”

“You play in IPL for months and don’t feel the workload there? You travel from one place to another; don’t you get tired? Is there no workload? It is only when you tour a lightweight team you remember the workload. This doesn’t seem right.”

India will tour New Zealand next for a Three match T20I and ODI series starting on November 18. Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence.
