The Delhi Capitals continued their impressive winning streak in the IPL 2025, claiming a decisive six-wicket triumph over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday evening. This was their fourth consecutive win, which further boosted their playoff ambitions. However, team mentor Kevin Pietersen kept celebrations in check, encouraging players and supporters to stay grounded.
“Quick reminder – the IPL is a marathon and not a sprint,” Pietersen wrote on X after Delhi completed the chase in style.
“Whilst it’s so good that we’re playing like we are, all of us know that the biggest games are in May! It really is so nice to be winning for our @DelhiCapitals supporters, though. Special mention to our young superstar, Vippi! Some young man he is!”

Special mention to our young superstar,…
The ex-England skipper recognized the team’s impressive run and emphasized the importance of remaining focused. “Momentum is good, but we need to think long-term. There’s still plenty of cricket left, and the real tests are ahead.”
KL Rahul was once again the driving force behind Delhi’s success. After a half-century against Chennai, he scored an unbeaten 93* from 53 balls, calmly guiding the run chase. Partnered by Tristan Stubbs, who chipped in with 38*, the pair stitched together an unbeaten 111-run partnership to take Delhi home with over two overs remaining.
Earlier in the match, young wrist-spinner Vipraj Nigam, known as “Vippi,” delivered a standout spell. His partnership with Kuldeep Yadav choked RCB’s middle order, with the two spinners claiming four wickets while conceding just 35 runs. Pietersen was quick to single out the 21-year-old for his performance.
Bengaluru started with real intent, thanks to Phil Salt’s explosive 37 off 17 deliveries, which included 30 runs in one over of Mitchell Starc. However, his run-out sparked a collapse. Tim David’s unbeaten 37 added some weightage to the score, but RCB were restricted to a below-par total.
Delhi, now second on the table, are level on points with Gujarat Titans but has played one match less. RCB, who have struggled at home despite a strong away record, find themselves third with six points from five games.
