Venkatesh Iyer- can be Highest Bids player

Overview:

Finch believes that it would help the batter to regain his form.

Aaron Finch has advised the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Venkatesh Iyer before IPL 2026. Finch said that while Iyer is a talented player, he has failed to justify his price tag. He mentioned that the Knight Riders can buy him back at a lower price in the mini auction.

Venkatesh Iyer was bought for INR 23.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, making him the most expensive player in the KKR’s team. In 11 innings, the southpaw scored 142 runs and struggled to time the ball. “Price of 23.75 crore is too high for Venkatesh Iyer, who hasn’t been able to show consistency,” Finch told JioHotstar.

“His batting order was not fixed and was used out of position. KKR should release him and free up funds and buy him back at a lower price,” he added.

Finch believes that it would help the batter to regain his form. “Venkatesh is a match-winner, but he hasn’t been impressive. Release him and bring him back at a reasonable price,” he explained.

If the KKR decide to offload the batter, it would free up funds for buying more players. The franchise is already considering the move, with Abhishek Nayar now becoming the head coach of the three-time champions.
