Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mark Wood has left the Indian Premier League 2023 for the birth of his daughter. After losing against Gujarat Titans on Sunday night, the team released a video on its social media platforms confirming the news. In the video, Wood stated that he hoped to return for the tournament’s playoffs, but nothing was finalized yet.

The English speedster had a promising start to the 16th season, but was only able to participate in five games due to concerns over his consistency and the team’s combination.

“For the birth of my daughter. So, sadly, but for a good reason to go home. Hopefully, I might be able to come back and hopefully, you will be able to see me again. I am sorry that unfortunately I have not played more games this season. However, I managed to get a few wickets,” the England speedster said.

“The team bonding has been good. I really love the team, the backroom staff is fantastic and it has been great to see the lads do well over different parts of the tournament,” Mark Wood commented.

On Sunday, LSG lost to Gujarat Titans and missed the opportunity to move up to second place in the points table. They are currently in the third place with 11 points from 11 matches.
