The deadline to submit the list of retained players is November 30. With the entry of two new IPL franchises from 2022, the existing eight teams are allowed to retain 4 players each while Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises have an option of signing 3 players each from the list of cricketers who haven’t been retained by their current teams.
KL Raul has been offered INR 20 crore by the Lucknow franchise. He was earning INR 11 crore at the Punjab Kings. Rahul would have earned INR 16 crore had he stayed with the Punjab based team.
PBKS were ready to retain him as their No.1 choice player but the right-handed batter refused to sign the papers.
Rashid Khan, on the other hand, urged the Sunrisers Hyderabad to sign him as their No.1 choice player, which would have taken his package to INR 16 crore. However, the management declined his request as they wanted to keep Kane Williamson as their No.1 choice player. Earlier, Rashid had a contract worth INR 9 crore with the Hyderabad based franchise.
The Lucknow based franchise has offered a contract worth INR 16 crore to Rashid Khan.
