The 30th match of Indian Premier League 2021 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore has been rescheduled after the KKR camp marred by the COVID-19 crisis.
Notably, KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy and pacer Sandeep Warrier have tested positive for novel coronavirus on Monday.
The sudden COVID-19 scare has halted the proceedings of the game between KKR and RCB. The match which was scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will now be played later.
After the news broke out, the Bangalore-based franchise took to his official Twitter handle to wish Chakravarthy and Warrier a speedy recovery.
“Today’s match between KKR and RCB has been postponed by the BCCI as per IPL Safety Guidelines after Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for COVID. We wish Varun and Sandeep a speedy recovery,” RCB tweeted.
Owing to the pandemic situation in India, several IPL-bound players pulled out of the ongoing tournament. While Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had opted out of the competition to support his family amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the country, Australian cricketers such as Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa, and Kane Richardson also flew back home before the Australian government suspended all the direct flights from India.
Here’s see how fans reacted after the clash between KKR and RCB postponed due to COVID-19 threat:
