The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) recorded their first victory in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League by defeating Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

It was Abhishek Sharma’s exploits with the ball which helped SRH to restrict PBKS to a paltry total of 120 runs on board.

The 20-year-old picked up two key wickets of Deepak Hooda and Moises Henriques while conceding just 24 runs in his four-over spell.

Chasing 121 runs at Chepauk, the Orange Army got off to a flying start as David Warner and Jonny Bairstow stitched a crucial partnership of 73 runs for the opening stand.

After the Australian batsman was dimissed by Fabian Allen for 37 runs, Bairstow made sure to keep the scorecard ticking. The English wicketkeeper-batsman played a brilliant knock of 63 runs off 56 balls and powered his side to register nine-wicket win over KL Rahul’s men

After the conclusion of the game, SRH spinner Rashid Khan showered praise on Abhishek Sharma, saying the youngster will become a “proper all-rounder” for Team India in the future.

“Looking at the way you bowl, your hard work and skills, it looks like you will be a proper all-rounder for India in the future. You will help the Indian team win a lot of games. You have the skill and ability, and if you work hard you will definitely reap the rewards,” Rashid told Abhishek in a candid chat.
