The five-time champions Mumbai Indians are all set to take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game of Indian Premier League 2021 on April 9.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers, and many other star batsmen from both the sides will be aiming to hit the ground running at the Chepauk in Chennai. But all eyes will be on the hard-hitting player Kieron Pollard, who is just two sixes away from joining an elite list of IPL superstars.
Ahead of the tournament opener, Pollard is standing on the cusp of becoming only the sixth player in the history of Indian Premier League to smash 200 sixes.
If the West Indies all-rounder manages to achieve the remarkable milestone, he will join the likes of Chris Gayle (349 sixes), AB de Villiers (235 sixes), MS Dhoni (216 sixes), Rohit Sharma (213 sixes), and Virat Kohli (201) in the elusive club.
In his IPL career so far, Pollard has slammed 198 sixes in 164 games.
Last year, Pollard accumulated 268 runs in 16 games at a brilliant average of more than 50 and a strike rate of 191.42 with 22 sixes and 15 fours.
The 33-year-old is also just 4 boundaries away from completing 200 fours in the cash-rich league.
