Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct on Wednesday (October 13). The 36-year-old was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for a duck and the veteran was seen dislodging the stumps in frustration, which the umpires found wrong.
“Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the official statement read.
Earlier, chasing 136 runs to win, Venkatesh Iyer and Shubman Gill added 96 runs for the opening partnership before the flurry of wickets.
Nitish Rana, Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan, and Sunil Narine were dismissed cheaply. However, Rahul Tripathi seal the match in KKR’s favour by hitting a much needed six.
