Yuzvendra Chahal went wicket less in the first two games of IPL 2021. He looked out of touch against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.
However, he made a comeback in the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. In four overs, Chahal dismissed Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik. He gave away 34 runs at an economy rate of 8.50.
Dhanashree Verma, Chahal’s wife, got emotional after her husband got his first wicket of the tournament. When the cameras were panned on her, she looked emotional and in tears.
Chahal was happy with his performance and talked about bowling to Andre Russell.
“It’s an amazing feeling, when you are bowling well and not getting wickets, sometimes hurts. But getting that first wicket, I felt a bit emotional. I was trying to get him (Andre Russell) out, I wanted to bowl wider because the leg-side boundary was shorter, so after three balls, I changed my field,” Chahal was quoted as saying after the game.
“Their run-rate was over 10, I wanted to bowl more dot balls and just stuck to my plan. It will be a totally different wicket in Mumbai, there will be a slight turn but usually will be good for batting,” he added.
