Devdutt Padikkal has joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp in Chennai after testing negative on Wednesday.

Devdutt Padikkal, who had tested positive for novel coronavirus last month, has joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp in Chennai after testing negative on Wednesday.

The Bangalore-based franchise took to its official Twitter handle to share the good news with fans.

“We are pleased to inform you that Royal Challengers Bangalore’s left-handed batsman, Devdutt Paddikal, has joined the team on April 7 with negative reports for COVID-19 as per BCCI protocols,” RCB said in a recent statement.

“Our medical team was in constant touch with Devdutt to ensure his safety and well-being,” the franchise added.

The 21-year-old opener was kept in isolation at his home in Bangalore.

Notably, Padikkal is still doubtful to play in the tournament opener between the Virat Kohli-led side and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians on April 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Earlier in the day, RCB all-rounder Daniel Sams tested COVID-19 positive ahead of the upcoming edition.

The 28-year-old is currently in quarantine and the RCB medical staff is in constant touch with the Australian player.

Sams had tested negative upon his arrival on April 3 but his reports came positive on Wednesday.

“Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival. His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility,” RCB tweeted.
