IPL coaches
Former India wicket-keeper batter Saba Karim has revealed the main reason behind the lack of Indian coaches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan is all set to play for Punjab Kings in the 14th edition of Indian Premier League. The 25-year-old, who impressed everyone with his big-hitting skills in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, had sparked an intense bidding war for his services in the IPL 2021 auction.

However, in the end, the Punjab-based franchise broke the bank for the Chennai-born player and purchased him at a whopping amount of Rs 5.25 crore.

Ahead of the new season, which is set to kick-off from April 9, former India cricketer and the current head coach of Punjab Kings, Anil Kumble, has showered praise on Shahrukh. He compared the youngster with the West Indian stalwart, Kieron Pollard.

Shahrukh reminds me a bit of Pollard actually. When I was with Mumbai Indians, Pollard was dangerous in the nets. I used to bowl a bit in the nets, and the first thing I used to tell him was don’t hit straight,” the 50-year-old said in a video posted on Punjab Kings’ official Twitter handle.

I’m not even trying here. I’m a lot older now, and the body doesn’t take the bowling anymore. So, I’m not going to bowl at Shahrukh, for sure,” Kumble added.

Punjab Kings had failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2020. They finished sixth in the tournament with just six wins from 14 games.

The KL Rahul-led side will begin its campaign against the Rajasthan Royals on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
