AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers is likely to join the franchise as a mentor for the 15th edition of the cash-rich league.

AB de Villiers stole the show for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their sixth match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against the Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

The South African legend once again showcased his masterclass to help his side win yet another game in the ongoing edition of IPL.

After being asked to bat first, RCB got off to a poor start as they lost their two key batsmen, Virat Kohli (12) and Devdutt Padikkal (17) in the powerplay.

However, De Villiers played a match-winning knock of 75 runs off 42 balls with the help of three boundaries and five sixes. His innings powered the Bangalore-based franchise to post a challenging total of 171 runs on board.

In reply, Delhi Capitals fell short by just 1 run despite the brilliant half-centuries by Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer.

After the conclusion of the game, when De Villiers was asked to name his favourite shot against the DC bowlers, he chose the massive six off his compatriot Kagiso Rabada over the deep midwicket.

“The shot over extra cover off the bowling of Marcus Stoinis was certainly one of the best shots but no offence to KG (Kagiso Rabada), my shot off him over midwicket was my best one. I don’t often get him away, but I’m happy I managed to get him away for that one,” the 37-year-old said in post-match presentation.
