Ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has made some bold predictions regarding the star performers of the defending champions, Mumbai Indians.
The renowned commentator feels that Suryakumar Yadav will be the highest run-getter for the five-time champions in the IPL 2021.
The 30-year-old batsman emerged as the third-highest run-scorer of the Rohit Sharma-led side last season. He smashed 480 runs in 16 games at an average of 40 and a brilliant strike rate of 145.01.
Suryakumar is heading into the IPL 2021 on the back of some impressive knocks for Team India in the five-match T20I series against England.
“SKY is going to be the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians. He is in very good form and will get to bat at a very good number. The grounds on which they are playing, the Indian batsmen will have to contribute more and I think Surya will have a fab season once again,” Chopra said in his latest YouTube video.
Furthermore, Chopra predicted that MI skipper Rohit Sharma will smash a most number of sixes for his side in the upcoming season.
“Rohit will hit the most sixes for this team. He will also have to do well with the bat this season because there will be more pressure on the Mumbai Indians,” the 43-year-old added.
The Mumbai-based franchise will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the much-anticipated tournament opener on April 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
