Aakash Chopra feels that CSK might find it difficult to put up a strong performance in the IPL 2021.

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings had a miserable outing in IPL 2020. For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, the three-time champions, CSK, failed to make it to the playoffs last season. They finished seventh in the tournament with just six wins from 14 games.

The 14th edition of IPL is all set to start from April 9 and the CSK players are sweating hard in the nets to perform better this year.

However, former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra feels that the Yellow Army might find it difficult to put up a strong performance in the IPL 2021.

In a video posted on his official Facebook handle, Chopra pointed out that most of the CSK’s top performers haven’t played competitive cricket for quite some time and this could pose a huge problem at the beginning of the tournament.

The likes of Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni haven’t played either international or competitive cricket. Jadeja has been out of action for a while now. So, four out of seven top performers don’t have a good form at this time,” the 43-year-old said.

CSK will begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Talking about the pitch conditions in Mumbai, the renowned commentator said, “The pacers are more successful at the Wankhede Stadium.70% of the wickets have been taken by pace bowlers and it’s not particularly helpful to spinners and Chennai is a slightly spin-heavy team. My prediction is that they might not start very well.”
