Continuing their winning momentum in the 19th match of Indian Premier League 2021, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 69 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, CSK posted a challenging total of 191 runs on the board. All thanks to the fluent fifty by an experienced batsman, Faf du Plessis and the late fireworks coming from the bat of Ravindra Jadeja.
The Indian all-rounder played a match-winning knock of 62 runs off 28 balls and took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners. Jadeja’s inning was laced with four boundaries and five sixes.
Chasing a monumental target of 192 runs, RCB got off to a poor start as they were reduced to 89/7 in 12 overs.
It was again Jadeja who took the game away from the Bangalore-based franchise
After his batting heroics, Jadeja also shone with the ball as he picked up three key wickets in the form of Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers while conceding just 13 runs in his four-over spell.
Meanwhile, RCB somehow managed to play all the 20 overs as the last two batsmen Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Siraj stiched a partnership of 19 runs.
With this win, CSK have reached on the top of the IPL 2021 points table with 8 points.
