Nicholas Pooran was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 10.75 crore. The left-handed batter was a massive flop in the last edition of the Indian Premier League and the recently concluded ODI series against India. However, he was in great demand in the IPL 2022 mega auction due to his track record in the shortest format of the game.
After a bidding war with several franchises, the Hyderabad based team managed to get their target. He was delighted to get one of the biggest deals and treated his West Indies teammates with a pizza party. He ordered 15 pizzas for INR 15000 inside the bio-bubble environment. He is currently with the national team for the upcoming three-match T20I series at Eden Gardens.
“Since outside food is not allowed, he (Nicholas Pooran) placed the order at the hotel chef for 15 pizzas,” the local manager was quoted as saying by My Khel. As the visitors are in a Grade 1 bio-bubble, everything has to be sanitized before being delivered to players.
“We have to take care of everything as the players are living in Grade 1 bio-bubble. A certain temperature has to be maintained and the Pizzas were sanitized before they were delivered to Pooran’s room. The player had to make the payment,” the manager added.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Pooran got a mild electric shock after the pizza party. As his phone charger was not working, he requested for a spare one to the hotel staff. It was sanitized before reaching him. As the charger was still wet, the southpaw recieved a mild electric shock when he plucked it inside the socket.
“He got a mild electric shock while trying to charge his phone. Sanitiser contains alcohol and the charger was probably wet when he plugged it to get a jolt,” said the team manager.
