Overview:

India's selectors are scheduled to announce the Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against the West Indies later on Wednesday.

Prasidh Krishna, the fast bowler, was hit on the helmet during the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow, which led to him being replaced by Yash Thakur as a concussion substitute. After the blow, Prasidh underwent a mandatory concussion assessment but continued batting. However, he walked off the field just three overs later. Mohammed Siraj then took his place at the crease.

Later, with India A being bowled out for 194 in reply to Australia A’s 420, Thakur came in as the final batter in Prasidh’s spot, making the substitution official.

The medical team has yet to disclose the severity of Prasidh’s injury, but his recovery will be closely monitored. India’s selectors are scheduled to announce the Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against the West Indies later on Wednesday.

Prasidh is competing for a position in the pace attack with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, all of whom played in India’s recent five-Test series in England.

That England tour was a key moment in Prasidh’s red-ball career. He took 14 wickets in three matches at an average of 37.07, showing his ability to trouble top-order batters with his aggressive, hit-the-deck style.

The ongoing A series marks his first competitive outing since the England tour. However, his performances have been underwhelming so far.

At the close of play on Day Two in Lucknow, Australia A were 16 for 3 in their second innings, still holding a significant advantage.

The opening unofficial Test between India A and Australia A concluded in a draw. Following this match, both teams will face off in three unofficial one-day internationals in Kanpur.
