Sourav Ganguly has given his full backing to Rohit Sharma, who is Team India’s new limited-overs skipper. The veteran recently got the additional responsibility of the ODI team after the selection committee decided to remove Virat Kohli from the post.
Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to five titles in the Indian Premier League. Apart from the league, Sharma was quite successful with Team India when he led the players in Virat’s absence.
In his interview with News18, Ganguly lauded Rohit for his track record. “Rohit Sharma won 5 IPL Trophies for MI. And He captained India in Asia Cup and India won without Virat Kohli. To win a title without him spoke volumes of that teams strength. So he has had success in big tournaments. He has a good team,” he said.
“Of course. That’s why the selectors have backed him (Rohit Sharma). He will find a way to do well and I hope he does,” he added.
