Former India captain Diana Edulji said that India’s U-19 players fielded better than their senior teammates. She was miffed with the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team after they lost the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final against Australia.

She was shocked to see the fielding standards of the national team. Speaking to PTI, she said the poor fitness standards were responsible for the team’s ordinary fielding. She also mentioned skipper Harmanpreet was casual while running the second run, which led to her run-out.

“It is the same old story. The BCCI must have a proper fitness assessment. I know Yo-Yo test would be difficult for the women cricketers. Right now, there is no accountability on that front,” she told PTI.

“They will have to improve their fielding, running between the wickets and fitness. They need absolute danda to play well. You are getting everything from the Indian cricket board including equal play,” she added.
