IND vs AUS first ODI

MUMBAI, India (AP) — Hoping to take advantage of evening dew, India won the toss and opted to bowl in the first one-day international against Australia.

It is the first match of a three-game series, with the second and third ODIs to be played in Visakhapatnam and Chennai. India won the preceding four-test series 2-1. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is absent for the first ODI, and Hardik Pandya leads the side in his place.

The home side has gone with four pacers and two spin options. Ishan Kishan will open the batting with Shubman Gill in Sharma’s absence. Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is out injured due to a lower back issue sustained in the fourth test at Ahmedabad.

The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium is batter-friendly. Dew at the ground tends to influence games, and the chasing side will hope to draw benefit from it.
