West Indies captain Roston Chase has won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the first Test on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Toss Decision – Captain’s Comments & Reasoning

“We will bat first. Looks like a good wicket. It will have a bit of moisture. I want guys to play positive cricket and not be timid against this Indian side. We want to get some points in WTC. We want to use feet to nullify the spinners,” Roston Chase said.

India captain Shubman Gill is not worried after losing the toss.

“We want to win four Tests at home. We have prepared well. Everyone is in great touch, and it’s time to shift to red-ball cricket. It is a good wicket and I am not concerned after losing the toss. We are playing three spinners, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Washington Sundar. Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) and Mohammed Siraj are the pacers. Nitish Kumar Reddy is playing as an all-rounder,” Shubman Gill said.
