India and Pakistan will compete in the Asia Cup 2025 on 14th September. Both teams have played one match each, both of which they won with ease.
India, the current champions (having won the 2023 title under Rohit Sharma), are the favourites to claim the prestigious cricket trophy again. However, Pakistan also looks like a formidable contender for the title.
While the outcome of this edition of the Asia Cup is still to be determined, it’s worth revisiting the teams’ performances in previous tournaments.

India have achieved more success in the Asia Cup than Pakistan. The Men in Blue have won the tournament 8 times (in 1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2023), making them the most successful team in the history of the tournament. Sri Lanka, with six titles, are second.
In comparison, Pakistan have only claimed the Asia Cup twice, once in 2000 and again in 2012.

Though the Asia Cup started as an ODI competition, the first T20 version was introduced in 2016.
The second T20 Asia Cup was held in 2022, and the 2025 edition is also being contested in this format.
India claimed the inaugural T20 Asia Cup in 2016 with MS Dhoni as captain, while Pakistan haven’t won the T20 version of the tournament.
