India defeated Namibia by a convincing 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Namibia won the toss and decided to field first. Sanju Samson got the opportunity to open and also make his first-ever T20 World Cup appearance in the absence of Abhishek Sharma, who hasn’t recovered from stomach infection.

Sanju started well and smashed 22 runs off 8 balls but got out on the last ball of the 2nd over, bowled by Ben Shinkongo. However, Ishan Kishan took charge and smashed 61 runs in just 24 balls before getting out on the first ball of Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus’ over. He took 4 wickets and conceded 20 runs.

Hardik Pandya with 52 runs off 28 balls, Tilak Varma with 25 off 21, and Shivam Dube with 23 off 16 were the other contributors for India, helping them set a total of 209 for 9 in 20 overs.

Namibia’s bowlers showed great skills in the death overs, conceding 25 runs off 24 balls and taking 5 wickets.
