India and Pakistan are set to compete again each other again at the 2026 T20 World Cup, reigniting one of cricket’s most intense rivalries. Their group-stage showdown is scheduled for February 15 next year at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, promising another high-voltage contest between the two neighbours.

Many believed that India and Pakistan would be placed in different groups due to the strained relations after the Pahalgam attack. But Sportstar has revealed that the two rivals will be a part of the same group, which also features the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands.

Reports suggest that the defending champions will kick off their World Cup run on February 8 in Ahmedabad, where they are likely to meet the USA at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Four days later, they are expected to take on Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Suryakumar Yadav’s men will then fly to Colombo for their much-anticipated showdown with Pakistan. India will end their league fixtures on February 18 against Namibia at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

If India secure a spot in the semifinals, they are expected to play their match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Meanwhile, the first semifinal is set for March 4 in Colombo. The championship decider for the 20-team event will take place in Ahmedabad on March 8.

The 2026 T20 World Cup marks the tournament’s 10th edition since it first began in 2007. India are the defending champions after lifting the trophy in 2024 in the Caribbean. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the team secured the title by defeating South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

India have showcased remarkable consistency in the T20 format recently. They captured the Asia Cup in September, overcoming Pakistan on three separate occasions, including a decisive five-wicket triumph in the final in Dubai. Last month, Suryakumar Yadav’s side also returned from Australia with a 2-1 win in the five-game T20I series. Their next assignment is a home series against South Africa in December, featuring five T20Is.

Meanwhile, Pakistan are competing in a T20I tri-series on home soil, with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe serving as the other participating teams.
