Despite his good performance in the first leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Shikhar Dhawan was not considered for the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Pakistan player Salman Butt believes India need real fast bowlers to win matches in the shortest format of the game. He feels the Indian team is more dependent on their batting line-up and must look to assemble a strong fast bowling unit for the slam-bang version.

“India are relying on their batters to win matches. They need more fast bowlers to perform well in the shortest format of the game. No matter how many variations you have, you can’t make an impact with medium pace bowling. Anything below 135 kmph makes absolutely no impact on a batter.”

Butt further added that the Men in Blue need bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in T20Is to trouble the batters.

“India need bowlers with genuine pace. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have troubled the batsmen and the management should find such bowlers to win big tournaments.”
